I was like a time piece on its side,

Sand sifting gently back and forth with each movement.

It was all seconds,

The two-beat pause between your words as you didn’t speak at all,

But I knew and I heard what you had to say,

All those involuntary laughs and the way you smiled when you ran out of breath.
