The Watermarks Across My Skin #24

What would you honestly say you loved about me

The moment my heart quit loving you;

All the infinities of stars casting tired looks on the world as they

Turned slowly away,

All the darkness overcoming lightness,

All our carelessly phrased conversations at dawn radiating backwards at

The back of your brain.

There’s not a lot I would tell you about me because

What you know is already so debilitating,

It could halt my footsteps forever.

Tell me,

Tell me I am the buoyancy of your being when

The endless negatives get heavier than

They ever were in our yesterdays.
