The Ocean in Us #5

As I looked down through tired salt flurries into

The all-day-dusk sand bottom where I

Could just barely make out the floating traces of a fin or

The empty shell of the reef coral and I

Only saw the filmy, black and white exposure of my life

Reflected back at me steadily, like eyes in a hand mirror,

And in my small instant of revelation,

I blamed you.

I dared project my colorless vision on to the one exuberant masterpiece I have;

I contemplated the dips and blues and cataclysmic swings of you and I

Quickly, suddenly, hurriedly realized,

You are simply,

Home.
