To You Who Has Gone Away #2

They told me that I could wish on things,

Wish on eyelashes and star dust and

Comets shooting across the January sky,

But they never told me that there was no guarantee,

No deposit slip that said things would work out

The way I really wanted them to,

And basically what I’m trying to say is,

I thought I was promised you on the

Tip of a fiery mass tousling my vision:

But, really, it was just an imagination

Running into the myths people who

Compose orchestras and write novels

Wanted to believe.
